Program Overview and Job Summary
The Discovery Programs Lead Instructor works with children ages 5-17 in residential (overnight) Camp Programs. In addition to leading educational activities focused on science themes, Instructors will lead hikes, camping trips, and accompany students on off-site Adventure Day activities, such as white water rafting and rock climbing. The Instructor is the primary caregiver for children and is responsible for guiding children in their personal growth and daily living skills. Instructors will also perform support staff duties, such as facilitating meals and the check-in/out process. The Lead Instructor must be completely familiar with the daily schedule, client/cabin assignments, and the overall energy of the Discovery Program.

Main Areas of Focus:
• 50% Teaching;
• 20% Lesson planning and curriculum development;
• 20% Support staff duties.

Required Education/Experience/Certifications
• Minimum of 460 hours of work experience with school-age children;
• Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR certifications, or the ability to obtain before the first day of employment;
• Age 21+ with an excellent driving record and a valid driver’s license;
• Must be able to successfully pass a comprehensive background check.
