Job Description

Position: Kitchen Assistant
Location: Opal Creek Wilderness Area, Oregon
Work year: Seasonal: until November 14, 2017
Responsible to: Food Service Manager; Program Director

Opal Creek Ancient Forest Center seeks a full-time, seasonal Kitchen Assistant for our 2017 programming season. Opal Creek is a magnificent 35,000-acre ancient forest on the western slopes of the Cascade Range in Oregon. Assistant Cook responsibilities include meal preparation, dish washing, and hospitality for all programs, as well as engaging the public. We are seeking someone who is community oriented, has the necessary cooking, cleaning and hospitality skills, and takes pride in producing tasty vegetarian meals.

We have a small staff and everyone is required to help in a variety of ways to successfully run our remote residential facility with a diversity of programs. Programs are run from the old mining town of Jawbone Flats, an off grid community three miles inside of the Opal Creek wilderness Area. This is a residential position, and staff will live at Jawbone Flats in housing provided by the organization.

Compensation: $10.00/hour, plus housing, utilities and partial board.
