Water Sea Kayak Guide
All applicants must be at least 21 years of age and hold a current Wilderness First Responder by the time of employment. We look mostly for maturity, leadership skills, professionalism, and enthusiasm for learning and teaching. We are looking for applicants who will engage with us, and our clients, on all levels. A current driving record, resume, references, and a completed application are all required for consideration. Sea kayaking skills are not necessary, but teaching, leadership, and environmental experiences are all really helpful.
We run the most extensive guide training in Alaska and it is required of all employees. It lasts for about three weeks, starting in late April. Guides must commit to the whole summer, through mid-September. During guide training, guides are responsible for focusing on their learning and education. After guide training, they are responsible for packing trips, leading trips, food preparation, unpacking / inventorying / repairing gear, and driving trips to and from the beach. Housing is provided and other responsibilities go along with that. All of this is outlined in detail in our application.
This will most likely be the hardest job you’ll ever love. You will work long hours, sometimes in challenging conditions… but the rewards are countless and totally worth the effort.
How to ApplyTo access an application, please contact owner Trent Gould at fun@KayakAK.com. All applications must be received by February 1st, 2018.
