Job Description
You love to get your hands dirty and plant tropical crops. You have the desire to feed people and find the best ways to do so in collaboration with the environment. You see how to create a farm that closes the resource loop. You have worked with both plant and animal systems. You understand the basics of organic agriculture, permaculture, agroforestry, pest management, systematics, irrigation and soil science. You know how to translate technical information to farming novices. You are comfortable leading a group of 10 undergraduate students in a 10-week semester, working to teaching them about sustainable agriculture systems, from building soil to taking produce to market.

Each week, there will be 5 hours of traditional education in the form of lecture or seminar based learning. For 15 hours each week, you will facilitate your students in your own Kalu Yala based sustainable agriculture projects 10 hours are reserved for you to support your students pursuing their own food systems-focused, independent projects. And 10 hours are reserved for administration and planning of lessons and the following week. You are also responsible for administration and planning of lessons as well as accessing communications and documenting progress. Though we are in an off-the-grid setting, there is still a need for using technology and communicating with other venues and administration.
