Job Description
Title: Youth Crew Leader

Reports to: Program Director

Location: CL’s will be county based- Costilla, Mineral, Saguache, Alamosa, Conjeos, Park, and Chaffee Counties

Status: Seasonal, Full-time, Exempt

Wages: $500-620/week DOE, DOQ, tiered training wage during 8 week training season

Benefits: Food provided while in the field, uniforms, personal protective equipment, U.S. Forest Service recognized S-212 Chainsaw training (Certificate awarded upon completion of program), and other development opportunities. Health Benefit Eligible and PTO for positions extending into fall Adult Crews.

Start/end date: April 1st – August 10th, 2019 (Youth Crews only); April 1st – November 2019 (Extending to fall Adult Crews)

Job Duties:

Alongside a coleader, supervise a crew of 7 high school students to complete quality project work, such as, trail construction/maintenance, fencing, painting, invasive removal, habitat restoration, and county beautification
Facilitate education lessons and daily debriefs
Communicate effectively with members, coleader, program staff, and project partners
Monitor, manage, and promote the crew’s physical and emotional safety on and off the work site
Exhibit strong situational awareness & promote a culture of safety
Complete time sheets, daily and weekly reports, corps member and peer evaluations, incident reports
Must be able to run a remote crew in small, tight knit communities
Manage food budget and credit card as appropriate
