Environment International Program Instructor – Starting June 7

Job Description

Broadreach leads international summer programs for teens with a focus on hands-on learning and exploring new locations and cultures. Over the past 30 years students have traveled with Broadreach to over 40 countries.

Our mission is to challenge students to broaden their perspectives through new experiences and environments, to inspire them to develop lifelong skills, to discover and explore their passions, and to empower them to reach beyond self-imposed limitations and take charge of their future.

Broadreach Instructors educate, mentor and inspire students every day. This is a 24/7 position and instructors would travel with their group for 21 days. Groups will have 8-12 students with two Broadreach Instructors.

Responsibilities:
Managing health and safety, maintaining a positive attitude, leading games, participating in service-learning activities, teaching, developing students’ personal growth, facilitating inclusive group dynamics, confirm trip logistics and demonstrating respectful travel

Our office is based in Raleigh, NC. Instructors will attend staff training in Raleigh from June 7 to June 13. Instructors will lead programs June 15 to August 5.

Daily stipend, food, accommodation and flights are provided.

Qualifications:
Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification or the ability to obtain the certification before summer. Broadreach hosts a WFR certification course June 1 to June 6.
Experience leading teens on multi-day programs in outdoor environments or outside of the U.S.
Strong Spanish speaking skills, especially for placement on our programs based in Latin America.
Strong desire to work closely with teens and young adults to educate and support their growth academically, physically and emotionally.
Group facilitation experience and an understanding of group dynamic and conflict resolution concepts.
Demonstrated success working on diverse teams with a collaborative mindset.
Strong organizational skills to manage budget, program expenses, student documents, etc.
Great communication skills and a professional demeanor to serve as Broadreach ambassadors to our international partners throughout the world.
