Lafayette Youth Corps Assistant Instructor Job Description

Status: Part time, Seasonal (10 hrs/week from September 2023-April 2024)
Location: Lafayette, CO
Salary: $16/hour

Wildlands Restoration Volunteers seeks a reliable individual who is passionate about environmental education and stewardship to assist our lead instructor during our Lafayette Youth Corps Program.
The Lafayette Youth Corps Assistant Instructor will be responsible for being present for 24 Saturdays during the school year from September 2023-April 2024 (excluding some holiday weekends) to help instruct a group of high school students in environmental stewardship, leadership, and team building. In addition to Saturday field days, they will meet remotely with the head instructor once a week and help with lesson planning as needed. All workdays with the Youth Corps will be in Lafayette, CO and the assistant instructor MUST provide their own transportation to and from the work sites.

JOB DUTIES:
• Supervises the interns along with the head instructor each field day
• Assists in logistical planning/executing of lessons and programming, in coordination with the head instructor
• Picks up lunch for the group on Saturdays as needed
• Helps the head instructor unload tools before the students arrive and clean up after they leave

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Ability to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and office equipment.
• Ability to interact with youth and agency personnel on a weekly basis.
• Able to work for long periods of time without break.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
• Must have a current and valid driver’s license and auto for transportation.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Experience working with youth.
• Ability to stay engaged and energetic during 7-hour workdays outside.
• Punctual and reliable.

DESIRED SKILLS:
• Strong preference for bilingual English/Spanish language skills
