Environment Lead Environmental Educator:

Job Description

Be a part of a growing non-profit in Southern Vermont. The position is for a full-time, 10-week (June 13-August 19) term at Lake Paran located in Bennington, Vermont. It will support the effective delivery of outdoor educational lessons and activities for children ages 5-12 during week-long summer camp programs.

Responsibilities include:
Development and delivery of environmental education programs and curriculum for up to 18 summer day camp participants
Supervise campers, ensuring their safety and well-being
Assist in set-up and breakdown of activities
Maintain excellent rapport and constant communication with parents of camp participants
Develop and maintain excellent communication with the fellow Environmental Educator, Junior camp counselors, partner organizations, and Lake Paran employees

Must be at least 18 years of age
Have previous experience overseeing groups of children
Self-motivated and willing to work as a team
Willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Passionate about conservation and environmental education
Ability to exercise cultural competence and best practices in inclusion

Preferred Requirements:
Working towards a degree in conservation biology/forestry/ environmental science or have 2+ years of experience in outdoor education
Previous leadership experience in childcare/camp settings
First Aid and CPR (child and adult) certification (training provided upon hire, if needed).

Must successfully complete a Background Check
We require all camp staff to be fully vaccinated. We follow school policy with regard to masking.

Salary: $17.00 per hour,

Full-time Seasonal Position
35-40 hours per week
Camp runs for 8 weeks, M-F, 9am-3pm
