Triple Divide Lodge is the only program of its kind. It is a 90-day Residential Treatment Program for adolescent males 14-19. We help young men struggling with substance use disorders and related co-occurring disorders.
We are a residential treatment program founded on 12 Step program that incorporate elements of adventure and wilderness therapy. Our clinical model helps clients overcome their substance use issue by getting outside of their comfort zones and experiencing the growth wilderness inspires.
We like to have Wilderness Instructors who will plan on working with us for at least a year — our goal is to have people stay and grow with the company.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Facilitating client activates, providing supervision, and fostering a therapeutic environment
-Demonstrating and teaching rock climbing, rappelling, challenge course, map and compass use, backcountry safety, and practices for winter and summer environments
-Planning meals and itineraries for expeditions
-Distributing, caring for, and repairing wilderness equipment and clothing
-Maintaining a relentless safety priority. Implementing risk management protocol, evacuation protocol, and all other safety measures
-Leading adventure outings and trips
-Maintaining an image of professionalism
-Integrate A.A. philosophies and therapy into outdoor adventure aspects of treatment
-Overseeing and participating in activities with clients
-Building rapport with clients while also holding boundaries
-Facilitate challenge courses, recreational, and physical fitness activities
-Working with clinical staff in the implementation of treatment methods
-Speak professionally and in a positive manner
Qualifications:
-Ability to engage and help create in a therapeutic environment
-Willingness to teach both outdoors skills and coping skills
-College degree in wilderness therapy, recreational therapy, similar degree OR equivalent outdoor experience
-Possess or quickly achieve a Wilderness First Responder (or Wilderness-EMT) and CPR level of first aid
-Possess or quickly achieve Avalanche level I or equivalent.
-Experience and Proficiency in Winter Camping
-Basic Mountaineering and navigational skills
-Backcountry sanitation and Leave No Trace skills
-Knowledge of how to travel in bear country
– Leadership & Judgment skills
Preferred Qualifications
-Rock Climbing and Rappelling skills
-Challenge Course and Initiative Games skills
-Outdoor Activities you are passionate about and can teach clients
-Additional training and experience in trail work, search and rescue, and/or fly fishing is desirable

Job Type: Full-time, Year-round
Pay is between $19 – $21 an hour for when working On Campus (any time not leading an extended backpacking trip). Pay on trips is $8.75 an hour for 16 hours a day, until you hit 40 hours in that pay period (Sat-Sun) when you earn overtime. This means a normal non-overtime day is the woods is $140, and an overtime day in the woods is $210.
